Mr. Chris Chan founded Ultra Instrument Agency (UIA) in 1985. It began as a company providing service and support for the instrumentation business. In 1989, Chris Chan decided to focus on the automation industry, thus, renaming the company Ultra Instrumentation & Automation (UIA) Pte Ltd, supplying automation components and systems in the local market. During the midst of work redesign project in 2001, Chris Chan decided to position the company as a high value-added solution provider for the automation field and renamed it Ultra Industrial Automation Pte Ltd.

Since 1989, UIA has seen solid growth and has created a pool of managers and engineers specializing in the motion control field. UIA has earned a good name in this region for its products and services. UIA’s long-term goal is to become the top motion specialist in this field. As distributor and specialist for industrial automation components, UIA has learned enough to build her own range of product which comprise the Ultra Profile Systems, Ultra Intelligent Actuators and Ultra Mini Controllers.

UIA’s milestones and achievements are :

• Established in 1985 as a trading company in measuring instrument as Ultra Instrument Agency.
• Ventured into the automation industry in 1986.
• Incorporated Ultra Instrumentation and Automation Pte Ltd in 1989.
• Was appointed first Far East Distributor of Parker Hannifin Corporation/ Electromechanical Division in 1989.
• Started manufacturing own line of product under the name Fastech Engineering in 1990.
• Ventured into Shanghai, China in 1998 and started Ultra Industrial Automation, Shanghai Office
• Renamed Fastech Engineering in 2001 to UIA Manufacturing Pte Ltd.
• Incorporated UIA Holding in 2001.
• Won the Gold Award at the Optimal 2003 Show for the Ultra Intelligent Actuator.
• Achieved ISO 9001:2000 Certification in 2003 for the Ultra Intelligent Actuator.
